Meeting for phase 2 poll held in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, March 04 2017:
To ensure free and fair election, the DEO-Tamenlong conducted a meeting today for the newly inducted Sector Magistrates/Officers at the DEO/DC Chamber, Tamenlong Headquarters.
Speaking at the meeting, DEO B John Tlangtinkhuma spoke about the role of Sector Magistrate.
He said Sector Magistrate is given the power of Magistrate and represents the ECI, General Observer, Police observer, the DEO and RO of the district concerned.
He also advised the Sector Magistrate to co-ordinate with the village authority, police and para military forces to ensure that the election is conducted without any hindrance.
Police observer of Tamenlong district MA Chawda also advised the Sector Magistrate to use their power judiciously without any fear.
CrPC 144 will be enforced on the poll day to prevent mob/crowd from disrupting the poll process.
The Sector Magistrate has been given power to use police and para military forces to keep the law and order intact.
General observer of Tamenlong district Dr Akhtar Ryeas said that the first two hours of the polling day is very crucial and there is a probability of EVMs facing technical problems, so it is the duty of Sector Magistrate to ensure that the problem is fixed accordingly.
He also advised the Sector Magistrate not to inform false information regarding the poll percentage during polling day.
He urged all the officers to perform their duty with a commitment to ensure that election is conducted without any hinderances.
Altogether 40 officers were present in the meeting.
Handbook regarding the role and duties of Sector Magistrate/Officer was also distributed.
