Imphal, March 01:
Skipping their training schedules several taekwondo players staged protest demonstration at the approach road of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai today to denounce the assault of office bearers of All manipur Taekwondo Association (AMTA) by suspected underground cadres.
The protestors numbering hundreds from different taekwondo training schools of the State demanded the reason for the brutal assault.
The protestors also held placards reading 'We want justice', 'Do not treat our parents/guardians as animals' etc.
The players were protesting use of derogatory language and severe assault of AMTA president Y Khemchand, general secretary L Karnabir, and joint secretaries Bheigya and Chaoba by armed persons who identified themselves as KYKL activists.
Taking serious note of the assault, an instructor lamented that conduct/action of the armed youths would have negative impact and discourage upcoming players.
