President APJ Abdul Kalam is likely to address the 10th convocation of Manipur University scheduled to be held sometime in May this year.
The office of the President has also reportedly given a green signal to the proposed visit.
"We have already sent an official invitation to the President requesting him to address the 10th convocation of the University scheduled to be held in May," Vice Chancellor of the varsity Prof Ch Amuba informed The Sangai Express.
The reply is awaited but we hope the President will definitely come in view of the recent conversion of Manipur University into a Central University, he said with optimism.
During a recent telephonic talk, the Secretary to the President also gave a positive response on the President's 'proposed visit', the VC added.
On the developmental projects being taken at the University complex, Prof Amuba said different campus development programmes including construction of roads, buildings, etc are underway in full swing.
ON the academic front, the VC disclosed that the University has send regular post fill-up proposals for four new departments, two of which have already been opened at the University, to the University grant Commission.
MU has already opened Departments of Journalism and Mass Communication and Manipuri Dance, but no regular post have been appointed in these Departments.
