Imphal, March 01:
Expulsion of seven candidates from four centres for using unfair means marked the first day of the HSSLC 2006 examination being conducted at various centres spread across the State.
While maximum number of three was recorded at Sawombung private centre, Liberal College followed close behind with two as Wangoi Higher Sec School centre and Saikul private centre accounted for one each.
All the expelled candidates would be barred from further appearance in the said examination, informed a statement issued by the Secretary of Council of Higher Education, manipur.
Meanwhile, as part of its endeavour to promote quality education and check use of unfair means in examinations, volunteers DESAM inspected various HSSLC 2006 exam centres located in Imphal East/West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Senapati districts today.
Barring chaotic scenes found prevalent at Wangoi Higher Secondary School centre, detection of a candidate using unfair means at Little Master English Hr Sec School and dereliction of duty by invigilators deputed at Presidency College, Motbung subsequently resulting in the candidates resorting to mass copying all the other centres covered by DESAM volunteers were found to be conducting the exam satisfactorily, said a release.
Calling upon the invigilators and teachers of respective exam centres to dispense their duties in strict compliance with prescribed rules and regulations, DESAM observed that those teachers who cannot control the students would be causing more harm than good to the society.
While appreciating the cooperation extended to the DESAM volunteers by security personnel and OCs of exam centres, the student body however, expressed strong resentment at denial of access into CC Hr Sec as well as Bishnupur and nambol centres and doubted whether the examinations were conducted in a proper manner.
