Imphal, September 20:
Reacting to the charges levelled by the UNLF, the Zomi Revolutionary Army today stated that it strongly objects to the accusation that it assisted the Indian security personnel in the attack on UNLF cadres on September 19 at Pamjal village of Churachandpur district.
In a statement, ZRA said that UNLF cadres have been occupying pockets of Zomi areas in Churachandpur district for years and have been harassing the villagers and forcing some of to move out from their ancestral homes to safer climes.
Despite the provocation, the ZRA has been avoiding any confrontations giving time to the UNLF to vacate the lands of the Zomis, claimed the statement.
In view of the ground reality, the public and civil societies have been urging the Government to provide security and reinstate civil administration at Thanlon sub-division, Tipaimukh sub-division and Henglep sub-division, said ZRA.
The organisation also clarified that the agreement that it signed for suspension of hostility with the Government is neither a military accord nor a document of surrender.
Therefore the allegations of the UNLF that ZRA is working along with the security force is hollow and without any basis.
The losses that the UNLF or any other group suffers at the hands of the security force should not be seen as the handiwork of the ZRA, it asserted.
The ZRO reiterated that it is a conglomeration of all communities (tribes) subscribing to the generic term Zo.
