To check cross-border drug trafficking, a joint meeting of the Indian and Myanmarese officials would be held on September 27 at Moreh.
The Indian delegation comprising of eight officials of different units of security forces and agencies would be led by SP of Narcotics and Affairs Border (NAB) M Sushilkumar Singh while DSP of Tamu District Aung Htein would be the team leader of the Myanmarese Government officials, informed a reliable source.
Exchange of information on drug control and discussion on controlling drug trafficking across the border would be the primary agenda of the proposed meeting, the source disclosed.
The achievements of the two sides in combating the menace of drug trafficking in conformity with the resolutions passed in earlier such meetings will also be shared during the meeting, the source added.
In the earlier meetings, the two neighbouring countries resolved to share information and conduct cross-border operation to combat drug trafficking.
The two sides have so far held such field level meetings 24 times alternatively at Moreh and Tamu town since April 2001, the source informed.
Besides, Sushilkumar, the other members of the Indian delegations are CO of 24 Assam Rifles Col KS Kadian, Superintendent of Customs Preventive Force (CPF), Moreh DM Das and Intelligence Officers of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Imphal Lalthanglien and Lalsawmlien Kungate.
