To highlight difficulties besieging people of Myanmar (erstwhile Burma) Peace Builders� Team - Women League of Burma launched a signature campaign in connection with the 5th International Day of Peace tomorrow.
The campaign is to detail to the UN Security Council social and economic disparities of the Burmese and urge for measures to address the situation during the UNSC convention set for October this year.
The campaign supported by the civil societies and right activists active in the border areas of the military-controlled nation aims at presenting vivid account of current situations pertaining to plight of the internally displaced persons, refugees and migrant workers, scare and infection of HIV/AIDS, child malnutrition, child soldiers and sexual violence against women among other issues in the country.
Besides highlighting the situation, the women body is all set to urge neighbouring countries and UN member states initiate necessary actions for release of Aung San Suu Kyi as well as other ethnic and political leaders detained by the military junta, initiate dialogue with the military regime for restoration of democracy and check atrocities against women and children.
Other agenda set for presentation at the UNSC session include ceasefire and withdrawal of troops from ethnic areas and create conducive atmosphere for return of the displaced persons.
