Electoral roll goes online

For the first time in the country, Indian citizens and residents of Manipur can now enlist and correct personal details in the electoral roll online through internet.
This was announced by Joint Chief Electoral Officer N Praveen during a press meet at his Lamphelpat office today.
He said that citizens can now inspect/verify the draft Photo Electoral Rolls and also file/lodge claims/objections and corrections online in the prescribed forms by logging to https://www.manipurportal.mn.gov.in.
To use this web portal which was opened a new by the Department of Information Technology, one must register first in the portal.
They must also give their mobile phone numbers.
Any response to their queries and objections would be sent to the mobile phone numbers in the form of SMS.
Those who submit all necessary details and documents online for registration in the electoral roll, one need go to the registration officer.
This facility would be available till October 31.Forms submitted online are downloaded everyday by the CEO's and EROs, Praveen said.
