Fleeing villagers return home

Panic villagers who have been taking refuge at Sekmai community hall after fleeing from their homesteads at Sapermeina, Motbung and Kangpokpi following the quit notice allegedly served by KNF (P) have returned to their respective places this afternoon.
After providing them morning meal at the community hall, a large police team led jointly by OCs of Sekmai Police and Sapermeina Police escorted the villagers to their respective places.
The villagers agreed to return home after KNF (P), which is a signatories of SoO assured that no quit notice have been served and necessary action would be taken up if any of its cadres were found to have issued such quit notice.
Meanwhile, Sekmai Nagar Panchayat, Women Society, Sekmai and Sekmai Youth Development Club, which have been looking after the need of the panic fleeing villagers, have conveyed their gratitude to the Government, the police and other civil organisations that have taken major role towards ensuring resolution of the issue amicably and allowing the villagers to return to their respective places.
Later talking to news-persons, UCM vice president, Nabachandra said that many civil society organisations including the UCM, have been urging the Govt to break the impasse so that the villagers can return to their homesteads without any fear.
Though the Government was apprised of the ground stituation well on time, no timely action was taken up.
Thanking all those who had chipped in with their efforts to defuse the situation and let normalcy return, Nabachandra urged the Government to take up remedial steps so that such incidents do not recur.
