Cultural meet kicks off

A cultural meet for 25 schools under Kuki Christian Upa was kicked off today at Taphou Kuki village with MLA Haokholet Kipgen, MLA K Raina and Kangpokpi ADC Member Lenkhomang Chongloi as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Haokholet Kipgen highlighted the need to preserve and promote the ancient culture and tradition of Kuki people even if they are part of the Christian society.
Every nation has their own identity and the identity of each nation are drawn from their ancient culture, tradition, practices and ethos, Haokholet Kipgen said.
K Raina said "our culture is our identity".
Culture defines one's identity and status, he said.
Observing that Manipur is a land inhabited by different communities, Raina called upon all to respect different cultures of different communities.
The three day long cultural meet is being organised to familiarise the younger generations with the ancient culture and tradition of Kuki people.
