Imphal, October 12:
Following the rejection of the State Govt's petition by the Gauhati High Court to review the earlier ruling passed by the same Court asking the Govt to release Sharmila, the Human Rights Law Network is all set to file a fresh application with the Court seeking to ban fresh FIRs against the hunger striker.
Following the HC's directive on Sept 21, the Govt released Sharmila from Judicial custody on Sept 28.Sharmila was later picked up and taken to JN hospital on the ground that the State Govt had to look after her well being.
However she was again arrested following a fresh FIR filed against her U/S 309 IPC (attempt to commit suicide). To challenge the fresh FIR, HRN is set to move the High Court, Advocate Rakesh Meihoubam co-ordinator of the Imphal unit of HRLN told The Sangai Express.
