Even as the sunshine has brought relief to the people in the district, many inflicted by this year�s monsoon rain are still looking for relief as their hope of a good harvest has already been devastated by the havoc played by the heavy rain.
An aged woman pointed out that she has never experienced as much rain as this year's in all her life, which is probably true, as everyone believe so.
The rain has subsided but not the worries of many people whose paddy fields, other crops and homestead lands were damaged during the monsoon rain.
This year, regarded as the rainiest year has inflicted heavy damages on the standing crops as reports from different parts of the district testify.
According to figures as of October 7, the district administration has identified 890 families, 829.5 acres of cultivated land and 193 houses and 37 villages as affected in the two sub-division of Paomata and Mao-Maram and recommended relief amounting to Rs.1, 65,57,920.00.Mao-Maram heads the list of affected in the natural calamity that devastated the people during the last two months.
Data for other blocks of the district are not available, as the SDOs concerned have not submitted the list so far.
