The three day �18th manipur University Inter-College Youth Festival� has begun from today at the University�s Centenary hall with Vice chancellor in-charge Prof Ksh Bimola Devi as the chief guest while Dean of Students Dr W Nabakumar and dean of School of Sciences Prof C Amuba graced the occasion as the president and guest of honour respectively.
In her brief speech, the chief guest, who is also the Dean of Social Sciences said the main objective of conducting the youth festival annually is to facilitate interaction among the students so as to imbibe a sense of oneness, develop personality, explore the inborn potential and untapped talent of every participants that would ultimately provide more impetus to socializing process.
The festival also provides the opportunity to build self confidence so that the students can lay a firm base for their own life and the society as well, she said.
Describing the prevailing situation as not very conducive for the students to devote on their studies without distractions, Prof Bimola nevertheless called on the students to pursue their academic goal single-mindedly and hard work.
In all students from 23 colleges affiliated to the Manipur University are taking part in the festival that began with a ceremonial cultural march from the MU canteen till the Centenary hall.
