Dimapur police arrested two persons on Monday suspected to be involved in the October 2 twin bomb blasts at Dimapur, according to reports recieved by NNN.
Sources said that the persons were later identified as Abdul Jolil (43), son of Tall Rahman of Brahman Sensong village under Korimjani district of Assam and presently residing at Balijan (Bokajan), Karbi Anglong and Sirajul Islam (36), son of Late Falmunnin of Rangulo Bosti under Nagaon district of Assam and presently residing at Balijan (Kaburjam Majid), Karbi Anglong, Assam.
They are presently in police custody.
The IGP of Nagaland police said that they hope to make a breakthrough in the blast case within the next 2/3 days.
Meanwhile, following the progress made in the investigation of the case in the last ten days, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SP, CID, hopes to get some breakthrough in the next few days.
Talking to Newmai News Network, IGP (Crime), Bendang Ao, said all the officers entrusted with the case, were working hard to get to the bottom of the tragedy and arrest those responsible for the most dastardly and grisly act of terrorism in the history of the State.
He said, "Hopefully we will get some breakthrough in the next few days".
The IGP (C) said the SIT was getting necessary cooperation from all concerned including police, Army, Assam Rifles, SIB and other security agencies.
When IGP (Intelligence), CP Giri, was contacted in connection with the arrest of the suspects, he said investigations were going on in full swing adding the officers engaged in the process of investigations were given a free hand to get their hands on the culprits.
However, both the IGP (C) and IGP (Int) refrained from divulging any detail with regard to the arrest of the persons suspected to be involved in the blasts.
They denied having received any feedback either from the SIT or Dimapur police.
A few days back, Union Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee had stated that the ISI could be behind the series of blasts that rocked Assam and Nagaland killing scores of people.
In another incident, Dimapur police seized 200 gelatin sticks, 300 gaps and 30 meters of fuse wire from the residence of one Houla Hmar at Nepali Kashiram in Dimapur on Monday during a late night raid.
The accused, aged 54 and son of late Hrunlai Hmar of Khomoi village under Churachandpur district of Manipur, is presently in police custody.
