A three-day long programme on Peace Training has commenced from today at the MBC Peace Conference Hall with Vice Chairman of Hill Areas Committee Khangthuanang Panmei and Khurai AC MLA Dr Ng Bijoy Singh attending the inaugural session as 'honoured guests'.
The training programme organised by MBC Peace Committee began with the inaugural prayer by Pastor L Simon Raomei whereas MBC Youth secretary Stephen Touthang was the moderator.
In all the programme is being participated by 30 delegates from various districts of the State.
Delivering the key-note address MBC general secretary Vumthang Sitlhou said due to frequent disturbances in the State for varied reasons the general public have been enduring severe inconveniences in addition to such an unstable situation affecting daily wage earners.
Noting that various forms of public agitation is a fallout of undesired events that continue to besiege the State, he expressed that the peace training programme is being organised with the hope that such an endeavour would be able to contribute towards restoration of peace and harmony in Manipur.
Speaking at the occasion, Khangthuanang Panmei strongly advocated constant coordination and consultation among the community leaders without which all efforts for creating a peaceful environment would be futile.
Stating that in a multi-ethnic society like Manipur constructive role of community leaders would be an important factor in transforming the society toward peace and progress, the MLA also pitched for enhancing peace building activities on a widescale.
In his address, MLA Dr Ng Bijoy observed that provision of basic facilities such as hygienic drinking water and regular power supply is another important asset for the society to progress towards peace and development.
Dr Bijoy also opined that in this modern era science and religion are inseparable as eradicating ignorance is vital for attaining goal of development.
