Five journalists and a columnist have been shortlisted for presentation of NK Sanajaoba Investigative Fellowship Award, which will be for a two year period.
The announcement was made today on the occasion of the 6th Lamyanba Yaolloi NK Sanajaoba Memorial observance held at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
The observance organised by NK Sanajaoba Memorial observation Committee began with the lighting of the memorial light and offering of offering tribute to the portrait by working chairman of Manipur Cultural integration Conference Aribam Brajakumar Sharma as the chief guest.
As functional president chairman of the host Committee Dr Lokendra Arambam released a souvenir.

The five journalists enlisted for conferment of the fellowship are Laishram Shamungou and Soubam Bokuljaoba of The Sangai Express; Naharolgee Thoudang duo Ksh Meghajit and N Nimolchand; and Poknapham daily's S Sonia Devi.
The lone columnist chosen for the fellowship is G Gunachandra of Naharolgee Thoudang.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Lokendra said to keep pace with the changing scenario of the society there is need for proactive approach and action to every issue that had been dominating the society.
He expressed confidence that presentation of fellowship to journalists and writers/columnists would be able to help them in effecting positive changes in the society through precision in their reporting and dissemination of invaluable information.
Noting that investigative journalism has become not only an essential component for media establishments but also to expose faults of the Government, Dr Lokendra remembered NK Sanajaoba as a journalist whose trademark was unearthing truth through investigation.
With regard to report of UNLF chairman RK Meghen's arrest in Bangladesh about a month back and absence of information about his whereabouts till date, he ascribed such a situation to the police of suppression of democratic right by the Government of India.
Dr Lokendra also contended that inspite of India claiming to be propagator of democratic principles might of the indian military is evident everywhere in the country, particularly in Manipur where rights of the citizens are being trampled through prolonged imposition of the draconian AFSPA 1958 .
In his address, A Brajakumar Sharma recounted NK Sanajaoba as an individual whose spirit and effort of rebuilding aura of nationalism was beyond doubt.
As editor of Lamyanba daily NK Sanajaoba relentless strived for betterment of the society with his work still an inspiration to many writers and journalists, said the chief guest.
Playwright Athokpam Tomchou and senior journalist K Madhumangol recounted their association with NK Sanajaoba during the observance programme.
