Flying squads formed : Kailun

In connection with the forthcoming State Assembly election, Manipur police have formed three/four flying squads for each and every district to monitor transfer and carrying of money, according to IGP (Zone-II) L Kailun.
Talking to The Sangai Express, L Kailun who is also the security nodal officer said that the State police starting from the DGP to Constables would be assumed as working under the Election Commission of India (ECI) on deputation in the run up and during the State Assembly election.
As such, any disturbance to the working of State during this period would be assumed as disturbance to the election process, Kailun said.
By corollary, disturbance to the State police personnel who have been assigned election duties would be assumed as disturbance to Central forces too, he added.
Ahead of the State Assembly election, two BSF companies have been deployed in Ukhrul district, one BSF company in Tamenglong, one BSF company in Chandel, two BSF companies in Senapati and three additional CRPF companies have been deployed at Senapati and Kangpokpi.
Mapping of arm licence holders has been completed and District Magistrates have notified all licensed gun holders to deposit their arms in nearby police station.
The State Government has already asked the Central Government to provide 263 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces for deployment in 38 Assembly segments which would go to polls in the first phase.
The State Government has also asked the Central Government to provide some additional companies of Central Paramilitary Forces for use in law and order maintenance work, Kailun conveyed.
He further informed that central election control room has been opened and its phone number and fax number are 2442871 and 2445371 respectively.
