Imphal, January 11 2017:
In view of the depleting stock of rice in the State on account of the UNC's indefinite economic blockade, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore has asked all FCI transport contractors to report their trucks to the police.
The Chief Secretary convened a meeting in his office chamber yesterday and issued an order to this effect.
The meeting was attended by the DGP, FCI and IOC officials and high ranking officials of the State Government.
The meeting decided to include at least 80 FCI trucks whenever convoys of trucks move along Imphal-Jiribam highway with security escorts.
As decided at the meeting, there should be 80 FCI trucks in every convoy leaving Imphal for Jiribam and there should be equal number of loaded FCI trucks in every convoy heading for Imphal from Jiribam.
Trucks which would be heading for Imphal from Jiribam should report at Jiri police station and those heading for Jiribam from Imphal should report at Keithelmanbi police outpost, said the Chief Secretary's order.
