A training programme on EVM, VVPAT, EVM tracking software and counting was held at Kombirei Hall, DC Office Complex.
The programme was organised by the DEO, Imphal West in connection with the ensuing 11th State Assembly election.
AC to DC, Imphal and Returning Officer of Langthabal and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa ACs Bantee Singh Konthoujam conducted the training session.
David Elangbam, Returning Officer, 22-Wangoi and 23 Mayang Imphal ACs disseminated the know-how of the working of the VVPAT machine that was introduced by the Conduct of Election Rules 1961 laid down by the ECI through a presentation to the participants.
He said that VVPAT, though new to the voters of the district, will immensely help in confirming whether a voter has cast his choice accurately.
A meeting was also convened at the chamber of the DEO, Imphal West wherein DEO Robert Singh Kshetrimayum asked the Returning Officers of all the 13 ACs of Imphal West to submit reports on poll-related complaints in connection with Samadhan.
As reported by the Nodal Officer of Samadhan Ph Bhavananda, the number of cases related to electoral rolls for Sagolband, Patsoi, Mayang Imphal, Wangoi and Langthabal ACs were 1, 1, 21, 3 and 1 respectively.
The number of flags removed from Sagolband, Uripok, Thangmeiband and Keisamthong ACs were reportedly 500, 320, 200 and 400 respectively.
Number of banners removed from Patsoi and Konthoujam ACs were 4 while 7 banners were removed from Sagolband.
Only 10 wall painting cases were reported in Singjamei AC while 397 cases of wall painting were reported in Sagolband AC.
The DEO said that strict action should be taken up to curb the illegal political advertisements immediately.
