Imphal, July 04:
A joint meeting of 14 voluntary organizations of Imphal East district held at Sagolmang Bazar this evening has sought replies of the Centre and NSCN (IM) leader Th Muivah to their five questions.
Opposing Muivah's claim that Nagaland has 12 lakh sq kms of land, a joint statement has sought the names of the Naga Presidents, Prime Ministers and Kings in the last 1000 years and also to produce the maps and documents of successive Naga regimes.
Stating that the territorial consolidation of Manipur including the hills had been completed during the reign of Manipur King Kiyamba in the 15th Century and each and every hill community in Manipur paid tributes to the Manipur King, the meet said that Burmese records.
Manipuri records and subsequent British records corroborate the facts.
The statement said that Manipur's existing boundary had been recognized by international powers, the British and the Burmese who signed the Treaty of Yardaboo in 1826 and asked the NSCN leader to produce the Naga boundary of the time.
It also charged that Nagaland unlawfully annexed Tuensang and Mon districts of the NEFA in 1963.Stating that Naga and Kuki MLAs of Manipur who participated in the constitution of the Manipur State Constitution Act, 1947 and who formed the first elected Government of the State had reaffirmed the lawfully established boundary of the State.
It further questioned Muivah's legitimate authority and standing to contradict the facts besides his having been born and brought up in Manipur.
Even the British Empire has territorial limits, it said.
Maintaining that the Bangkok ceasefire declaration is the first step for creating Greater Nagaland, the statement further sought a reply why the NSCN (IM) claim was rejected by the entire people of Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Manipur as unlawful and impractical.
It is ridiculous that the Government of India is suffering Peters to pay one Paul, the statement further said.
