To protest the killing of Th Manorama Devi and Saichang village Ppastor Jamkholet Khongsai as well as endorsing the ongoing movement spearheaded by Apunba Lup to demand the complete withdrawal of AFSPA, bandhs and general strikes were enforced in various parts of the State today.

Swooping down on bandh supporters at Kakwa area this morning at about 7 a police team led by Imphal West SP dispersed the protestors besides arresting five activists of local women organisation who were enforcing the bandh at Thongju Pt I&II.
Police personnel also detained six other women activists from Kakwa Naorem leikai for enforcing the bandh called in between Moirangkhom Oil Pump to Lilong Bridge along the Imphal-Moreh route while at Moirangkhom area the security men used tear gas to disperse agitation supporters at around 1.50 pm.
Responding to the call for continued agitation, vehicular movement in between Khonghampat to Pheidinga also came to a grinding halt temporarily before security personnel arrived to disperse women bandh supporters.
Sit-in-protest was also staged at Pheidinga areas where police arrived and allegedly used derogatory language against the protestors before firing tear gas shells to disperse them, said sources adding that the womenfolk strongly condemned the police conduct.
Bandh supporters also disrupted normal lives at Singjamei Bazar area while at around 2 pm, students of London English School and Kanhai Higher Secondary School attempted to surrender text books at the Raj Bhavan gate.
Police personnel deployed at the high security zone resorted to firing tear gas shells to scare off the student protestors.
In connection with the ongoing agitation students of Kanan Devi memorial Senior Secondary School, Pangei today staged class boycott stir besides observing two minutes silence to honour the sacrifice of Pebam Chittaranjan Mangang.
Meanwhile, in support of the ongoing agitation, Brahmapur Chaokhat Thourang Ima Lup has enforced 11 hours general strike today in areas within the jurisdiction of the body.
It also resolved to ban sale and use of intoxicants.
