In a surprise visit conducted by MLA Henry Paotei, 47 - Karong A/C today, many Govt officials and staff were found absent.
The MLA visited ZEO, PWD, Vety &A.H, DYSO, DIO, CIC, ICDS, Fishery, H&SC and Electricity besides IFAD/SEDCORMS.
The MLA before visiting the Government offices first paid a visit to Pasupati Mandir, Senapati on the invitation of the Mandir board where he paid floral tributes and had a brief interaction with board members.
It may be mentioned that the MLA - a god-fearing man has earlier visited almost all the Churches in the district headquarters since his coming here on August 13, last.
On his visit to the Zonal Education Office, the MLA stated that he was happy to find the staffs in full swing, working on different assignments.
The ZEO is learnt to have contemplated over the Government�s inability to provide an office building of their own stating that the present one is the office of the Superintendent of Engineers, PWD.
A plot for construction of the ZEO office has been provided, however, due to lack of fund, the construction of the building has been kept in abeyance.
Interacting with the MLA, the office staff poured out many shortages in the office and is also learnt that computers, which were provided are not in use due to lack of a room.
The MLA stated that the staffs were gearing up for SSA project with some staffs being deputed for survey.
It is surprising to know that the present ZEO, DIs, AIs, are only in-charges and none of them are regularized.
On his visit to EE/PWD, the MLA said that he found an AE present with only a few other staffs and EE absent.
In other offices like Vety & Animal Husbandry, District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, few were found present with majority of the staffs absent and the MLA disclosed that he has cross-marked the absentees in the attendance register in all the offices visited today.
Horticulture & Soil Conservation D.O is learnt to be very irregular coming to office only once or twice in a month.
The MLA said he fo-und only two staffs, an FA and a grade-IV employee and also found the attendance register missing.
Accompanied by president and ex-president, PMM, he later visited the electricity department and found the office of its EE closed.
On opening the office, the office room was covered with dust everywhere and a dak basket was also found to be filled with dust besides many cobwebs on walls and ceilings.
On checking the attendance register, the MLA said that some employee had not signed since January 2004.The MLA stated that the matter will be make known to DC to look into and strictly deal with the truant officers and staffs and expressed happiness over learning from people that the present DC is doing a commendable job like holding of DLOs meeting in blocks, public distribution of SKO and SGRY scheme.
Meanwhile, in his visit to IFAD/SEDCORMS, the MLA is learnt to have advised and encouraged the Project Manager to give equal treatment on community-wise and to extend co-operation to circle MLAs in future for any type of project.
