Advocacy programme on COVID-19 vaccination held

Senapati, July 24 2021:
State Health Society Manipur and District Health Society Senapati organised an advocacy, programme on COVID-19 vaccination at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, appealed to the gathering to disseminate the importance of covid-19 vaccination in order bring back normalcy in the district.
He expressed his concern for the district and said that in spite of all the efforts put in by the concerned department, the rate of vaccination in the district remains lowest in the State.
He cautioned that unless 75% of all the eligible persons are vaccinated in the district, the strict containment measure would continue till Christmas celebration.
He encouraged the various students and village leaders to get the people vaccinated.
ADM Senapati, Adahrii Maheo in his welcome address said that vaccination is the only way to successfully tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also urged the people to vaccinate themselves and not to fall into misleading claims shared about Covid vaccine.
State COVID Community Engagement team and consultant RKSK/AH, NHM, Philazan Shang Shimray said that the objective of the programme is to reach out and sensitise community leaders through meetings for wider coverage and positive response towards COVID-19 vaccination and to gain confidence and support for mass vaccination in the State.
Retired Additional Director, Public Health, Dr L Arke Singh while highlighting the importance of Covid vaccination urged the village and student leaders to play an active role in spreading awareness on Covid vaccination in the district.
The programme was chaired by DPM Senapati, RK Elizabeth while vote of thanks was delivered by DIO Senapati, Dr Ngouniba Peter.
It was attended by Senapati CMO, doctors from District Hospital, various tribal student leaders of the district, and village leaders.
An interaction session was also conducted to clear the doubts, myths and others in regard to covid-19 vaccination.
It may be mentioned that Senapati district has the lowest vaccination rate in the State which stands at 14.56% as of July 23 .
