CM advises against seeking loans

High-lighting the difficulties faced by the State Government in re-paying loans, Chief Minister O Ibobi has advised all relevant officials not to seek loans from financial institutions as far as possible for projects being implemented/to be implemen-ted by the State Government.
The Chief Minister gave this advice during a meeting held this afternoon on completion of Food Park being developed at Nillakuthi by the Commerce and Industries Department, conveyed an official source.
Industries Minister K Govindas Konthoujam, CM's advisor Jarnail Singh, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, Principal Secretary (Commerce and Industries) O Nabakishore and officials of Finance, Power and IFCD were present at the meeting.
Informing that the State Government is currently spending around Rs 30 crore in re-paying loans every month, the Chief Minister suggested that the amount required for completion of the Food Park may be incorporated either in SPA amount of the State Plan amount.
In response, Commerce and Industries officials put up a proposal to form a committee to work out the amount required for completing the Food Park with due participation of line departments.
Meanwhile, 49 plots of the Park have been already allotted to entrepreneurs and Government departments.
Construction of warehouse and cold storage have been completed.
The Food Park includes four units of Horticulture Department.
In the meantime, entrepreneurs have already constructed appropriate buildings on the plots allotted to them.
It is reported that a meeting of the State level Export Promotion Committee would be held tomorrow morning with Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga in the chair.
The meeting which would be attended by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce Ravi Kapur would deliberate on construction of a cargo terminal in Tulihal Airport, informed the source.
