Imphal, May 15 2020:
The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), the Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and the Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpanglup (AIMS) have hailed the thoughtful action of three persons from Manipur, who on finding they are COVID-19 positive cancelled their home bound tickets from Delhi, and opted to get treated there instead.
Taking note of the act of the three persons, DESAM, AIMS and ANSAM lauded them saying that the three individuals "have sacrificed their personal interests for the safety and well being of the whole people of Manipur" .
On the step to make COVID-19 testing mandatory for all returnees, the three student bodies said that this is a positive move and lauded the State Government for taking such a decision.
The three student organisations have also extended solidarity to all the coronavirus affected patients and their families.
"We pray for your quick recovery and well being," said the three organisations.
ANSAM, DESAM and AIMS then urged the State Government to re-activate "Tengbang" to extend financial assistance to all the "citizens of Manipur" who are stranded outside the State to meet their basic needs.
The three student bodies also appealed to all the returnees to "kindly" cooperate with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and arrangements made by the state authorities and civil society organisations for the safety of everyone.
