Imphal, May 27 2013:
As the incumbent Congress Government has failed to protect rights, dignity and modesty of women in the State, existence of Congress party in Manipur is useless, alleged BJP Manipur unit.
BJP spokesman Y Nilamani, I Mangiton, media affairs in-charge L Basanta and National Mahila Morcha executive member M Sarda held a press meet at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today.
Launching a scathing attack against Congress party, they remarked that the Congress Government acted like it was spineless even as many women were tortured and murdered in different corners of the State.
Questioning what Rishang Keishing did for the development of hill districts when he was the Chief Minister of Manipur for 11 years, they asked if the present Chief Minister O Ibobi has achieved any significant goal during the past 11 years of his uninterrupted rule.
By engaging in rampant corruption and graft practices, Congress has tarnished India's parliamentary system.
Reacting to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam's sarcasm that BJP was a party which blew horn on empty roads, the BJP leaders maintained that the party has its office in the heart of Imphal city and it is working sincerely for the people.
BJP blamed Congress party for its many wrongdoings including the Loktak scam in which several crores of rupees sanctioned for clearing phumdis were misappropriated in the name of a bogus company K Pro.
If the Congress party is determined to criticise, they may do so with convincing evidence, they asserted.
They also questioned the failure of Congress party to make public properties and assets of Ministers and MLAs.
Even though not a single BJP candidate was elected in the last Assembly election, BJP has been working actively unearthing the wrongdoings and failures of the Congress Government.
Congress need not worry for BJP for BJP is not a party which functions when they have their own MLAs and goes to hibernation when none of its candidate get elected, they added.
