Imphal, May 27 2013:
While asserting that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is doing the role of a responsible Opposition Party even without having an elected representative in the State Assembly, Spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh Y Nilamani has questioned the achievement of the Congress Party during its rule for more than two decades in the State.
Nilamani was addressing media persons at the head office of BJP Manipur Pradesh located at Nityapat Chuthek here today.
He further said that BJP is bold enough to expose various scams under the Congress Government with concrete evidences.
The Loktak Phumdi Clearance Project taken up by a bogus company K-Pro and several other projects including teachers' recruitment have already been exposed to the nation by BJP.
Nilamani alleged that the Congress Government is addicted to taking 10-15 percent from the funds sanctioned for development projects and is promoting drug trafficking and crimes in the State.
The Congress Government has done nothing with regard to education, connectivity and other developmental works both in the hills and the valley.
All the so-called developmental works taken up are meant for its earning only.
In the states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, rice is available at Rs 2 while in Manipur, rice, sugar and wheat are being sold out illegally, he further alleged.
The Spokesperson went on to lambast the Congress legislators for their inability to declare their assets publicly, adding that they have been flooded with money siphoned off from the public.
Criticizing Home Minister Gaikhangam for sidelining important issues confronting the state, Nilamani alleged that Gaikhangam is hesitant to take action against several individuals in the Home Department involved in many grave crimes like drug smuggling and rape.
The BJP Manipur Pradesh further wished that all "adversities" under the Congress Government be ended from today onwards.
Meanwhile, Condemning the recent Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh in the strongly term, BJP Manipur Pradesh has condoled the 27 departed souls who lost their lives in the said attack.
In a statement issued by its President Th Chaoba, the State Unit BJP also shared the sorrow of the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls to live peacefully in heavenly abode.
The party also prayed for quick recovery of the injured persons.
"It is one of the most unfortunate incidents that ever happened on the soil of the Nation since it is particularly an attack directly on the democratic institution of the country in the most coward manner.
Forgetting party line, we should stand up unitedly to fight against such undemocratic acts of the Naxalite in future", Chaoba exhorted.
National Executive Member of BJP Mahila Morcha Sarda has also strongly condemned the killing of several Congress leaders by suspected Maoists in Chhatisgarh, and announced that the BJP has called off the "Jail Bharo" protest which was earlier scheduled to be held from May 27 to June 2 as a mark of protest against the gruesome incident.
