Imphal, May 27 2013:
With an aim to improve the condition of Luangrang (Nungnang) Government High School, All Luangrang Students Union (ALSU) has resolved to run the school under the framework of the students' body in a general body meeting held.
According to a statement of the student body, the school has been running for around 90 days only.
Due to unavailability of any affordable institutes nearby, parents have been prompted to admit their children in the said school but regular teachers who are posted at Luangrang Government High School seem not interested in imparting proper education to the students.
On the other hand, school infrastructure including teachers' quarters, computer system, science laboratory and implementation of Mid Day Meal programme are still in the stage of infancy.
The same goes for sports and cultural activities as well.
The student body pointed out that the practice of deputing substitute teachers which itself is illegal is one of the main reasons for all the problems afflicting the school today.
On top of it, the institute is filled with local politics.
Appealing to all regular teachers to turn up at the institute, D James Gonmei, Education Secretary of ALSU has also drawn the attention of the higher authority to take stern action against the truant teachers.
