Imphal, June 24:
The alleged internal differences between the MPCC (I) chief Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi may have been resolved amicably today, said a well placed source.
Source from Congress Bhawan informed that the matter may have been settled during a meeting attended by Ahmed Patel, Oscar Fernandes, O Ibobi and Gaikhangam today at Delhi.
Following the meeting, the Congress leaders camping at New Delhi are expected to return to Manipur soon.
Meanwhile reacting to a news report published today, allegedly based on false information provided by one anonymous Congress MLA, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has reiterated that there are no differences or conflict of opinions between MPCC president Gaikhangam and CLP leader O Ibobi.
A press release issued by the MPCC recalled that Gaikhangam was elected MPCC president in September 2005 for a term of three years while O Ibobi was elected CLP leader for the second time after the 9th Assembly elections this year.
Nevertheless, the MPCC admitted to certain difficulties in Ministry expansion as the strength of the Council of Ministers for the State has been limited to 12 against the numerous MLAs vying for Ministerial berths.
There has been no proposal from any quarter for change of CLP leadership or any attempt towards this end.
It further remarked that the act of feeding fabricated and baseless information to the media by the anony-mous Congress MLA with the intention to present the Congress as a divided house was a manifestation of utter irresponsi- bility.
Both MPCC president Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi have been discussing Ministry expansion and other party matters with the AICC high command at Delhi, it informed.
