Imphal, February 19, 2012:
Terming the Sehlon incident of February 14 as an act of cowardice on the part of security forces, the proscribed RPF has asserted that the unwarranted assault by AR troops on innocent villagers was a challenge to all the indigenous people of Manipur.
Stating that RPF and PLA are always prepared to face such challenges, a statement issued by the outfit's Publicity Secretary T Leisemba alleged that the AR troops led by Captain Pratap exposed their most cowardly and savage attitude by beating up the villagers blue and black without even sparing pregnant women.
The attempt to destroy an entire village because a non-local man was killed by another non-local man was guided by a sinister conspiracy.
People need to calculate how many villages would be destroyed if five or ten non-local men happened to die in an unfortunate incident.
If some people have been taken over by the misleading words of non-local men and are thinking to facilitate their settlement in their own localities, one should understand that this is a false notion and a wrong step.
"At the most crucial times, there would be no one to help us.
Hence unification of all the indigenous people is a must", the outfit asserted.
Since the past many years, RPF has been asking the people to know the enemy and also to keep in mind that the Indian military is notorious for their savage behaviour among the armies of the world, it alleged.
Saying that development programmes being implemented by security forces in hills and valley of Manipur in the name of Military Civic Programme would not last long, the outfit cautioned there is no guarantee that the Malom Massacre would not be repeated at the slightest pretext.
The recent Sehlon incident has testified how the people of Manipur are being viewed by Indian security forces.
Students of the State who are different from mainland Indians in appearance and outlook are being humiliated before the world by sponsoring their trips to metropolitan cities and other places of India, it further alleged.
