Imphal, February 19, 2012:
The proscribed UG group RPF has deplored the act of Assam Rifles who allegedly beat up innocent villagers of Sehlon village in Chandel district including pregnant women and stated that the act has clearly shown the mindsets of Indian army towards the people of the state, both in the hills and the valley.
In a statement, the outfit asked what would have the AR personnel done if 5 or 6 non-Manipuris happened to have been killed when they could come down to a such level over killing of a non-Manipuri by another non- Manipuri.
History itself tells the story how Assam Rifles killed 10 innocent civilians over a failed bomb attack at Malom in 2000.In such a situation, people of the state both in the hills and the valley should come forward and stand against the brutality of the Indian army, it stated, while reminding that RPF has been already cautioning the people of the state against the 'hidden nature' of Indian Army.
Coming down hard on the MCA programmes and National Integration Tours being sponsored by Indian Army, the statement further asserted they (Indian Army) are only trying to find a way to get closer to the heart of the people of the state to do whatever they want in future.
Moreover, the so called National Integration Tour (NIT) being organised by various battalions of Central Security Forces are meant to make the children of the remote areas of the state revolt against their own parents by showing the glimpses of the metropolitan cities.
They are also projecting the children from North East, especially Manipur, as coming from some underdeveloped areas and mocking at the state in the name of National Integration, RPF contended.
Instead of planning for a bright future of the state, the Indian Army is still thinking of suppressing and terrorizing the people of the state in the guise of MCA programmes, the statement added.
