Close on the heels of four revolutionary outfits of the North Eastern region prohibiting celebration of Republic Day 2007, the Manipur People's Liberation Front (MPLF) making similar call elaborated its stand.
According to a statement issued by the permament body, MPLF Republic Day celebration of India would be prohibited in the entire region in general and Manipur in particular as such a day reflects forcible imposition of Constitution of India.
The boycott call is being given to highlight to the people that until and unless sovereignty is regained and the people decide their own future through mutual cooperation there is no cause for celebration.
Reteirating general strike called against the Republic Day celebration from 1 am till 6 pm of January 26, the statement further explained that message incorporated in the boycott call by the region's revoluntionary groups is to proclaim that inspite of all out effort of Indian security forces the armed movement would continue till lost freedom is regained.
urging all concerned to honour the boycott call, MPLF said all form of activities, with the exception of medical service, media and religious occasions, would come under the prohibition.
Like in past MPLF appeals to the people of the region to lend support to the MPLF's stand against the Republic Day celebration of India, the statement added.
