Thongak Lairembi Mashaikon Semgat Sagat Nupi Lup has appealed to the Govt and other related authorities for providing assistance to the family members of the residential quarters at Langol Housing complex which had been gutted in a devastating fire suspected to have been ignited due to faulty electric short circuit yesterday afternoon.
Addressing a press conference at Langol Housing complex today, secretary of Thongak Lairembi Mashaikon Semgat Sagat Nupi Lup L Manilata asserted that all the quarters in the housing complex have not been repaired since they were constructed in 1999.Apart from the fact that the condition of the roads running through the complex are in a deplorable condition causing lot of inconveniences to the residents, the main power line for supplying electricity to the quarters is just not compatible to the voltage being supplied but is also outdated.
So there is the possibility of outbreak of fire an account of faulty short-circuit, she said.
These matters have already been brought to the notice of the authorities concerned but no remedial measures have been taken up in this connection so far.
This is really unfortunate, Manilata lamented.
Expressing serious cocnerned over frequent outbreak of wild forest fire in Langol Reserved Forest area causing fear and apprehension among the people of the area, Manilata further drew the attention of the authorities cocnerned in this regard.
The quarters which had been gutted in the fire yesterday was quarter no.1-B 20 of Zone-IV and it belongs to one Laimayum Ashnikumar who works as a camera men in the Industries Department of the Government.
All the properties kept inside the quarters including beds, almirahs, clothings, computer sets and others have been reportedly reduced to ashes.
The total estimated loss in fire is said to be Rs 7 lakhs.
Swift action taken by the personnel of the Fire Service who used three fire tenders in controlling the fire prevented it from spreading to the neighbouring quarters.
According to reports, fire servicemen had also suspected faulty short-circuit for the cause of the fire.
