FCS Minister Ph Parijat along with officials of the FCS Department today seized a large number of illegally hidden LPG stock from M/S MM Gas Agency Lalambung during a drive conducted following reports of acute shortage of cooking gas in the State.
During the course of the drive, it was found that the agency had 1822 filled cylinders on Aug 13 of which 1500 cylinder arrived on that day.
Then according to reports furnished by the agency 1726 cylinders were distributed on the same day.
However, the agency authorities were not able to produce any detailed data regarding the distribution of the 1726 filled LPG cylinders on Aug 13.On further checking the godown of the agency, the inspection team found the godown empty except for some empty cylinders.
However to the surprise of the officials, three truck loads with filled cylinders were found in a nearby garage owned by the agency.
Speaking to reporters after the drive, Minister Ph Parijat said that it was impossible to distribute the 1500 Cylinders on August 13 as the cylinders had arrived late in the evening and further added that the agency had even failed to produce the records for distribution of the above mentioned 1500 cylinders.
Stating that storing of filled LPG cylinders in the garage is unauthorized and illegal, Parijat added that the consignment of the three trucks loads of filled LPG cylinders were not entered in the relevant records even though the challan showed the arrival of the consignments on Aug 13.Meanwhile FCS Dept Jt Secy RH Gonmei has instructed the Imphal West SP to seize the illegal cylinders.
