Catholic School Canchipur celebrated its silver jubilee at its Rev Fr Mathew Manianchira Memorial Hall on October 13 with pomp and gaiety.
The silver jubilee celebration was graced by Minister of Education L Jayantakumar, Archbishop of Imphal Rev Dominic Lumon, Archbishop Emeritus Rev Joseph Mittathany and MLA O Joy as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
The Silver Jubilee celebration was participated by Catholic School students, passed out students, teachers and well wishers.
Earlier called Christ Jyoti School, Catholic School was established in 1982 with the motto "Love and Discipline" by the then Archbishop Joseph Mittathany and Fr KC George together with some local leaders with 9 teachers and 366 students.

Besides standard educational infrastructure, the school also boasts of ample sports facilities including an international standard basketball court with fibre glass board. The first batch of its students appeared matric exam in 1992 in which one of its student secured the 6th position.
Since then Catholic School students have proved their mettle and brilliance by making their names among the top 20 position holders time and again.
The credit of organising first ever Science and Arts exhibition in 1993 went to Fr Jayaseelan.
The year 2007 not only proved to be the most outstanding not only for being the silver jubilee year but also for the Computer Literacy Excellence Awards conferred to Catholic School Canchipur by the Govt of India.
Since its students started appearing in matric exams from 1992, Catholic School has so far produced 27 position holders.
Among them, two of its students secured second positions in 1992 and 2006.A remarkable achievement of Catholic School has been its exemplary pass percentage in all the matric exams which stands at 97-100 percent every year.
At present, the school has 2500 students, 65 teaching staff, seven non-teaching staff and classes from Nursery to X, each class with four divisions.
Over the years, Catholic School students have achieved great feats in State and National level competitions.
The celebration was marked by presentation of cultural and entertainment programmes by students.
The School has been providing quality education with a view to mould responsible and service minded youth, to inculcate a sense of pride in the cultural heritage of the land.
Former Principals, Headmasters and well wishers were also honoured on the occasion.
Education Minister L Jayantakumar donated two computer sets to facilitate computer literacy among the students.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA O Joy conveyed his desire to upgrade Catholic School to secondary level.
