Imphal, June 14 2015 :
Former MP and BJP National executive member (Manipur in-charge) Tapir Gao has asserted that the people of Thangmeiband A/C were betrayed by Congress party and they should teach the betrayers a fitting lesson.
Speaking at the opening function of BJP's city central district office at Khoyathong Polem Leikai this morning, Tapir Gao said that the incumbent Congress Government has earned infamy for rampant corruption.
Three MLAs including the one representing Thangmeiband A/C were disqualified recently for speaking against the Congress Government and their misrule.
The disqualification move was tantamount to slapping on the faces of all the people of the particular three Assembly segments.
Such a humiliating move should be responded in a befitting manner, the former MP asserted.
Kh Joykishan, Th Bishwajit and O Lukhoi were disqualified because the Congress Government has a nagging fear that the trio would expose all their wrongdoings and corrupt practices, asserted Tapir Gao.
If the disqualification move could be justified by any argument, the five MSCP MLAs must also be disqualified.
The State Government is answerable to this question, Tapir Gao said.
People have shown their faith in BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by electing 21 BJP candidates in the ADC election held recently.
If Joykishan is re-elected in the mid-term election which is expected soon, it would be the most fitting gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tapir Gao said.
Former MLA Kh Joykishan categorically stated that his strength lies in the people of Thangmeiband A/C and that he is undaunted by the presence of Congress party's 47 MLAs and three MPs.
Saying that some Congressmen have now started asking people of Thangmeiband A/C what they expect from the Government after neglecting the Assembly segment for a protracted period, Joykishan maintained that people would give a convincing reply in the by-election.
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary (media affairs) L Basanta said that the newly opened BJP Imphal central district would cover Thangmeiband A/C, Uripok A/C, Sagolband A/C, Singjamei A/C, Yaiskul A/C, Wangkhei A/C and Keishamthong A/C.In the 16th Lok Sabha election, BJP secured maximum votes in Thangmeiband A/C and the credit went to Joykishan.
Basanta went on to announce that BJP has launched its election campaign in all the three Assembly segments of Thangmeiband, Thongju and Wangoi from today.
Due preparations have also started to launch election campaigns in more than 27 wards of Imphal Municipal Council, he added.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba, general secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar, vice-president and Imphal Central District in-charge I Mangiton, Imphal Central District president NK Iboyaima and BJP State Cultural Committee chairman Sh Naba Sharma (Naba Volcano) and other party leaders were also present at the gathering.
