Manipur Sarvodaya Mandal yesterday observed the 125th birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave at Langol.
The birth anniversary programme held to commemorate the Bharat Ratna was attended by former MLA, Kh Jibon Singh; CPI Manipur State Council's secretary, L Sotinkumar and president of Manipur Library Association (MALA), Kangjam Chaoba as presidium members.
Vinoba Bhave's dedication and contributions in the freedom struggle of India, his work for the welfare of the rural population in India and other remarkable works during his life were recalled during the programme, a statement of the observation committee of the 125th birth anniversary of Vinoba Bhave.
Kshetrimayum Santa, secretary CPI Manipur highlighted Vinoba Bhave's secular belief and the present day concern created by ideological and religious differences.
These differences in views are the enemy of the Nation and it should be settled, he continued.
Sarat Salam, a CPI leader, had also stated Vinoba Bhave was a non partisan Indian leader who advocated for the welfare of the poor and helpless.
Vinoba Bhave's favourite song "Jay Jagat", was played at the end of the anniversary observation, the statement continued.
