'Beaten to death' case: JAC stages sit-in, takes out rally demanding justice

Condemning the incident where a 56-year-old man was allegedly 'beaten' by three persons of a family to death at a farmhouse at Bishnupur, a protest rally was taken out today.
A sit-in protest was also staged at Bishnupur Ward no 3 Community Hall, prior to the rally.
It is reported that the three accused of the case namely Namoijam Tomba (60) of Bishnupur Ward no 3 and his two sons, Sunder (45) and Romesh (34) have surrendered to Nambol police.
They are currently in police custody and investigation is on.
The protest demonstrations were organised by JAC against torture killing of Moirangthem Nilamani of Bishnupur Ward no 3 .
The rally which kick-started from the site where a sit-in was staged reached up to Bishnupur Bazar and shouted slogans there.
The protesters used placards that read, "Meehatpa Leikaida Leiba Yaroi", "Meehatpa Matikchaba Cheirak Piyu" .
Meanwhile, the JAC has resolved not to claim the body until the culprits are punished accordingly, and to take support from like-minded CSOs to ensure justice for the deceased, among others.
Convenor of the JAC, Ch Gopal demanded that the accused family should provide livelihood assistance to the children of late Moirangthem Nillamani Singh.
He lamented that the accused have been ostracised from the locality.
Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL) president, L Pramo also demanded stringent punishment for whoever found guilty in the case.
