Police are helpless when a Court sets free any individual arrested for his/her involvement in criminal activities, stated Home Minister G Gaikhangam during discussion of demands in the State Assembly today.

Admitting that the strength of police force in hill districts is very small, Gaikhangam stated that he would devise a new policy under which MR/IRB would be transferred in companies rather than whole battalions in order to reduce expenditures.
The duty of police is such that they would receive brickbats while discharging their duties, said Gaikhangam.
He also welcomed the proposal of NPF MLA Alexander Pao and TS Victor to make the jails located in hill districts operational.
While discussing demands for CAF &PD, concerned Minister M Okendro said that out of 45 godowns, 27 are no longer in use.
For introducing home delivery system of LPG, a company would be hired to ascertain the exact figure of LPG consumer card holders.
Sericulture Minister K Govindas said that the Japan International Cooperation Agency has certain reservations to take up the Manipur Sericulture Project Phase II because of the volatile law and order situation of Manipur some years back.
