Imphal, July 10 2012:
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit (IPL) System has on Tuesday garnered more support on its demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state with the Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Manipur (MEELAL) and Independent Season Market joining the movement.
MEELAL and Independent Season Market jointly organized a sit-in outside the Imphal Municipality office building on the demand of introduction of ILP in the state.
MEELAL vice president M Naokhamba told Newmai News Network that the organization strongly condemns the statement of Union Ministry of Home Affairs which has flatly rejected the demand of implementation of ILP system in Manipur.
He said MEELAL and other NGOs in the state will support Manipur legislators if they sincerely take a firm decision on introduction of ILP system in the state though the Union Home Ministry has declined it.
The MEELAL vice president also pushed for a unified approach from both the valley and hill people to strive to achieve the goal for implementation of ILP in Manipur.
