Imphal, March 10 2013 :
Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai locals today stopped a film crew, comprising of actress Momoko, from shooting at Cheiraoching (hill lock) where the mortal remains of journalist Thangjam Dwijamani was consigned to flames.
The locals reportedly prevented the film crew from shooting in and around the memorial site of Dwijamani to protest alleged indifferent attitude of the actress, who is also accused of being disrespectful to the deceased journalist, who died in police firing while covering a protest.
It may be noted that in December last, valley pockets of Manipur witnessed a strong agitation after Momoko was molested and assaulted by a top cadre of the NSCN (IM) at a Chandel district event.
The cadre also opened fire at two of her male colleagues, who tried to intervened.
According to Naharol Leisemba Club (Sinam Leikai) president L Pratap a group of locals who were cleaning up the Cheiraoching memorial complex this morning spotted the film crew shooting some scenes close to a location where Dwijamani was cremated.
Actress Momoko should atleast be respectful to Dwijamani's soul as she was at the centre of the agitation that eventually claimed the journalist's life, opined Pratap while regretting that the actress did not show up to console Dwijamani's family at their hours of grief.
He also declared that Momoko would not be allowed to film at Thangmeiband area for her alleged unsympathetic attitude.
Later the actress apologised to the locals, to whom she clarified that she initially opposed shooting at Cheiraoching but was compelled by the film producer.
Producer Ksh Anup also tendered an apology to the locals.
