Imphal, March 10 2013 :
Even though Public Academy of Nursing, Khergao was claimed to have been affiliated to Assam Nursing Council and approved by the Indian Nursing Council, students of the nursing college were not allowed registration in Manipur Nursing Council for they were given forged certificates.
Speaking to media at Manipur Press Club here today, some students of the nursing college said that 11 students were enrolled in the academy in the first batch, another 11 students in the second batch and six students in the third batch starting from 2009 .
People running the academy claimed that it was affiliated to Assam Nursing Council and approved by the Indian Nursing Council.
At the end of their course, the first batch students underwent internship for six months at Public Hospital and after earning another six months' work experience, the students went to Manipur Nursing Council for registration.
But the officials there told the aspiring nurses that the Manipur Nursing Council did not recognise the certificates issued by Public Academy of Nursing.
When the matter was raised with Anur Hussain, founder of Public Academy of Nursing, he reportedly assured that he would make the certificates issued by his academy fit for recognition by Manipur Nursing Council within six months.
He also pledged that each student of the first batch would be reimbursed Rs 10 lakhs each if he cannot keep his own assurance.
A deed was also written in this regard.
However, after the said six months' period expired, Anur Hussain turned back on his assurance dared the students to do what anything they liked.
He said he could neither reimburse any money nor make the certificates recognizable.
Even as students of the first batch, second batch and third batch have been urging the academy to make their certificates recognizable, the academy was shut down since September last year.
Decrying the act of deceiving and giving them forged certificates, the anguished students appealed to all concerned not to ruin their career.
Apart from depositing Rs 20,000 each for the first and second semesters, the first batch students paid monthly fee of Rs 1700 while the second batch and third batch students paid Rs 2000 each, they said.
