NSCN-IM cadre caught with drug

One cadre of NSCN-IM, which is currently under peace talks with Central Government, was arrested with two other people in possession of drugs including Heroin powder (No.4) and SP capsules by a combined team of Pallel Police and Commandos during a search operation conducted in Pallel area today.
During the search operation, Heroin powder and two syringes were found in the possession of Sonson Chothe (30) s/o of PR Selhong Chothe of Pallel Keithel Mamang Leikai, who turned out to a captain in NSCN-IM.
Two photographs, one in which Sonson is clad in full combat dress and other in Army uniform with weapons in hand, were also recovered from his possession.
The other two persons who were apprehended along with the NSCN �IM cadre have been identified as Wahengbam Deepak (38), s/o W Somendro and Yumnam Suresh (27), s/o Y Ibocha.
One gram of Heroin powder and three syringes each were recovered from their possession.
Separate cases have been registered against the arrested trio at Kakching Police.
On the other hand, alerted members of Kanggui Youth Union caught two persons with SP tablets and Ganja at Kanggui(Kangpokpi) Bazar around 4:50pm today.
Another person, however, managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
The two rounded up persons have been subsequently identified as Seimoija Vaiphei(18) s/o (L) Tongsat Vaiphei of Kanggui W/No.11 and Haochinglun Lunkim(18) s/o Tonglen Lunkim Kanggui W/No.13 Gamhoi Veng while the escaped person as Thangvanlen Misao s/o Thangtinlal Misao of Kanggui W/No.6 .
Seimoija was caught with 200 gm of Ganja while Haochinglun with 17 SP tablets.
According to their revelation, they have bought the items from one Lalkhomang of the same town.
Talking to mediapersons in this regard, General Secretary of Kanggui Youth Union Lien Kipgen informed that to stop increasing menace drugs among youngsters in and around Kanggui town, the Union would continue to take every possible measure.
He also appealed to all the residents in Kanggui, more particularly, the parents of those who have been rounded up with drugs today, for co-operation with the Union in making the town free of drugs.
Lien assured that the Union would launch a manhunt for the escaped person as well as the one who supplied the drugs for awarding them with befitting punishment.
