Imphal, March 10 2013 :
Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) today claimed to have unearthed the alleged illegal and corrupt business activities of oil pump, Bhaurilal Bakliwal & Co, Imphal which supplies HSD fuel (Diesel oil) to one NF Railway construction agency, Sushee Infra Pvt Ltd stationed at Awangkhul in Tamenglong district, without official challans from IOC Ltd.
In a statement, Education Secretary of ZSUM NK Alungbou informed that on March 7 midnight, an oil tanker was stopped by ZSUM volunteers at Noney Bazar but the loaded tanker sped off.
Suspecting possible foul play, ZSUM volunteers chased away the speeding oil tanker and intercepted at a spot between Rangkhung and Awangkhul.
The oil tanker bearing registration no NL02D6755 was driven by one Mohan Khati s/o late SB Khati of Nepali Basti, Dimapur and it belongs to one Dinanath Prasad Shaha s/o late B Shaha of AM Road, Mokokchung.
During interrogation, it was learnt that the HSD fuel had been purchased from Bhaurilal Bakliwal & Co, Imphal by Sushee Infra Pvt Ltd for railway line at the rate of Rs 48.06 per litre and paid a total amount of Rs 5,76,720 under receipt no.BB/POL/0381A/12.13 dated 7-03-2013, the student body said, while asserting that this has proved that official norms and rules of IOC under Assam Oil Division have been violated.
Further interrogation also led to the revelation that this was not the first time that the agency had procured HSD fuel this manner, Alungbou added.
The student body has urged the authorities of IOC for taking necessary measures to blacklist the defaulted oil pump and said that it would continue to take up more stringent measures to control corruption activities in Tamenglong district.
