TSE reporter bags award instituted in Akaba's name

The 1st Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Journalist Award for Promotion of Integration and Communal Harmony has been conferred on a staff reporter of The Sangai Express Sapam Aruna today.
The award was presented at Chingsubam Akaba's 70th birth anniversary cum 'Pandam' eveninger's 1st Foundation Day celebration held at Hongmahn Tangkhul village in Senapati district.
The award carries Rs 15,000, a citation, a memento and a certificate.
At the same function, Hueiyen Lanpao (Manipuri) Editor Hemantakumar Ningomba was also honoured with the 1st Editor Award for Development of Manipuri Language and Script.

Titular King of Manipur, Meidingu Leishemba Sanajaoba, former Minister RV Mingthing, Tangkhul Naga Wungnaolong president Sweeten Rahing, Editor's Guild president Ahongshangbam Mobi, R Suisa Trust chairman Dr Ngohor Sai Luithui, 'Pandam' Executive Editor Namoijam Tomba and Hongmahn Tangkhul village chief Akhui Zimik graced the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Meidingu Leishemba Sanajaoba while speaking at the occasion said that bringing communal harmony needs a practical approach.
He observed that people would land only in deep trouble in future of they continue to differentiate individuals and groups on communal lines.
Announcing that Irom Chanu Sharmila had handed over Rs 2 lakh to him to take up welfare activities of the people, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that of this amount, Rs 50,000 would be used in the erection of a statue of public leader Suisa and Rs 25,000 in the development of his graveyard.
In his speech, RV Mingthing said that works and contributions of Suisa and Chingsubam Akaba towards bringing communal harmony must not be sidelined and forgotten by the people of the current generation.
He appealed to the people of the State to uphold the ideals of these two public leaders.
A Mobi, in his speech, urged the gathering to build up hill-valley unity.
A special edition of 'Pandam' eveninger and Pandam and Luwang Printers Calendar 2015 were also released at the function.
