In connection with the construction of the proposed Rail Fed Oil Depot at Malom, a joint meeting of the Railways and IOC officials was held with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair today.
On the other hand, Art and Culture Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of coming up architectural designs suitable to the character of Manipur for all the railway stations to be set up along the proposed route from Jiribam to Imphal via Tupul .
According to an official source, meeting which was also attended by Chief Secretary DS Poonia, Commissioner Revenue and Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West discussed commencement of the construction work on the proposed Rail Fed Oil Depot at Malom.
It has been decided that IOC would be depositing the fund for paying land compensation for acquiring over 30 acres of land for construction of the depot and Railways would notify the site where the railway station is to come up at Malom to the IOC soon.
Officials of the Railways who attended the meeting disclosed that 2014 is the target being kept for completing all the construction works related to laying the railway line from Jiribam to Tupul and drew the attention of the Chief Minister for providing necessary security at Bulbung, Dolagath and Keimai in this regard.
The CMassured that necessary measures would be put in place after the DGP takes up the matter with the CRPF.
