Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) celebrated its 15th Foundation Day at Manipur Press Club today.
RK Ranendrajit, AMKIL President Ph Sakhi and United Committee Manipur (UCM) President Y Nabachandra graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, RK Ranendrajit expressed concern that the sense of unity is being hampered due to factionalism in the State.
Saying that different issues are still lying in front of the people, Ranendrajit said that important issues like AFSPA and ILPS can be resolved only through collective efforts.
He also called for bringing a change in the society, putting in efforts to keep freedom intact and marching forward with a sense of oneness.
Contending that womenfolk are taking active part in many issues, the veteran journalist exhorted the educated youth to empower womenfolk by educating them.
Speaking at the function, United Committee Manipur (UCM) president Y Nabachandra lamented that instead of applying minds to development activities, the State Government is busy withdrawing Central Government funds.
Taking a further dig, Nabanchandra alleged that the State Government has not taken up any step to make Manipur a self reliant State.
Regarding Ukhrul incident, Nabachandra said that the State Government provoked the public with prolonged imposition of Section 144 CrPC.
Many unfortunate incidents had happened in the past as well, he said and added that the Government has not taken up any measure to thwart such incidents.
