A public meeting called 'March for Peace' organized by Meira Paibi and 17 Assam Rifles was held today at Kangla.
About 500 Meira Paibi representing various organization participated in the meeting.
Dr M Nara Minister Art and Culture and Sericulture was the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering Dr Nara said we should try to maintain peace.
If there is no peace there can be no development.
This is the right time to launch stir to have peace he said.
Every organization should aspire for peace.
Meira Paibi should work against corruption which is the root cause of insurgency problem in Manipur he said.
Ima Phajabi President Women United Development Organization who presided over the function stressed the need of respecting human life and rights.
The right to live with dignity was stressed.
Brig EJ Kochekkan Commander 9 Sector said the weapons of Assam Rifles in Manipur should be used to bring peace.
Indian army would like to join hands with Meira paibi in carrying out major operations.
An arrest memo would be issued when anyone is caught he assured.
Black laws in vogue in the state are not the creation of the Indian army he said.
Army can try to remove them he said.
Since 1965 the Indian army has been facing the insurgency problem he said.
Meira Paibi should take a leading role in bringing peace in the state he said.
Violence can not bring peace only talks could bring peace he said.
All should not support the underground organizations he said.
