A number of civil societies and student bodies, including the UCM, have unanimously condemned the bomb blasts at Assam and Nagaland yesterday which killed a number of civilians.
Strongly condemning the twin blast at Dimapur, the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur, termed the act as dastardly adding that the attack was nothing but an act of cowardice.
While denouncing the blasts in the strongest term, the student body extended its condolence to the near and dear ones of those persons killed and injured.
It also urged the authorities concerned to book the persons involved in the twin blast at the earliest and give them fitting punishment.
Our Staff Reporter adds: The Mao Students� Union has also strongly condemned the organization responsible for the twin blast in Dimapur yesterday saying it has shocked the sentiments of the whole country and in particular the people of Nagaland.
The Union also urged every like minded individuals and organizations to join hands in its fight against such acts of terrorism.
"Our people should not be cowed down by such acts rather, we should stand boldly together for the truth", said the student body in a statement.
Further the Union conveyed their solidarity to the bereaved families and to those injured.
Joining the chorus of condemnations, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), said the bomb blasts were nothing but cold blooded genocide which will not serve any purpose in any way.
In a statement, TKS said every right thinking citizens ought to come out boldly against such act of terrorism, which had never happened in the history of Nagaland.
The motive behind the gruesome act would be to derail and undermine the peace process, said the student body.
The TKS also thanked Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphui Rio for his prompt response and timely decision to set a high powered committee to investigate into the incident and unearth the truth behind the attack within 10 days.
The student body also conveyed its condolence to the bereaved families and prayed to the Almighty God for giving comfort to them in their trying moment.
