Meals distributed at CCC to mark 27th death anniversary of RK Jaichandra

RK Imo and his family members distributed food items for dinner on June 13 to mark the 27th Death Anniversary of RK Jaichandra, former Chief Minister of Manipur.
The distribution was carried on behalf of RK Sorojini Devi, w/o RK Jaichandra in collaboration with Cycling for Humanity Team for the inmates and staffs of Covid Care Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong; CCC RD Wing and CCC Bal Bhavan.
Around 900 meal packets were distributed at the centres.
Edible items were also distributed to Children's Home at Tera; Poirei Nawakon, Koirengei and Punya Nawa Yaiphakol, Thangmeiband as a part of the distribution programme to mark the 27th Death Anniversary of former Chief Minister RK Jaichandra.
As the annual rites couldn't be held due to the pandemic, the family members had decided to distribute the edibles to Covid Care Centres and Children's Homes.
This is the best way one could serve the people during these trying times when everyone is facing lots of difficulties due to the second wave of the pandemic, said the family.
RK Imo also thanked Cycling for Humanity Team for all the support to make the meal distribution a success and wished every inmate at the Covid Care Centre for good health.
At the age of 43 years, RK Jaichandra had become the first Union Minister from Manipur in the Government led by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
He was the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister and later took charge as Minister of Chemicals and Petrochemicals.
He later became the Chief Minister of Manipur between 1988-90.RK Jaichandra was instrumental in getting Sports Authority of India in Manipur and initiated the amendment of MLR LR Act in the Assembly.
He died at the age of 53 years at Apollo Hospital, Chennai.
